About the album
Open the Door to Your Heart features all original songs, recorded at Northfire Recording Studio in Amherst, Massachusetts, by engineer Angelo Quaglia in 2012.
These songs have come into being over a period of almost thirty years. The musical flavors are diverse, most often a blend of folk, jazz and singer-songwriter styles, with a little rock'n'roll thrown in for good measure.
They are by turns thoughtful, poignant, inspirational, upbeat, inspiring, joyful, mystical, touching, moving.
My profound hope is that they will touch the listener deeply, offering hope and support in times of need, and upliftment and joy all the time!
I find myself continually amazed at how blessed I was to have been able to enlist the support of such incredible musicians. Most of them--Charles Neville, Billy Arnold and Dave Wertman---have traveled the globe for decades, playing with many of the greatest names in jazz. Their websites are replete with famous names and accolades. I cannot even begin to try to do them justice; all I can reasonably do is to direct the reader to their websites.
The fourth, pianist Miro Sprague, is well on his way to becoming a famous name on the jazz scene. His star has risen in the East (Coast), and will, no doubt, traverse the entire globe until his name becomes emblazoned in the hearts of jazz aficionados the world over.
